President Bio

David St. Clair is a Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) Specialist, with over 12 years experience in his field. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from UWI, St.Augustine Campus. He started his career at Seltec in Trinidad in 1988, and has also worked at Caroni (1975) Limited, Electrotec and BWIA. In 1992, David joined the Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission as an Engineer in Training. He is currently the Manager of the HSE Department. During his years with the Commission, David worked as an engineer in the Standards and Specification section and the distribution areas in north and east Trinidad.

In 2001, David was promoted to the HSE department as a junior engineer, providing advice to the Commission on HSE matters. He then pursued and completed the NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety. He is also a qualified OSHA trainer for 10 hour and 30 hour programs. Within the first year at the HSE Department, he became a member of the Safety Council of Trinidad and Tobago. By 2002, David joined the executive of the Council as a committee member. He became the vice president in 2005, a post he held for two terms (four years). He is currently the president of the association. David is a past member of the OSH Authority of Trinidad and Tobago, representing the Safety Council of Trinidad and Tobago.

David represented the Commission at the Caribbean Association of Business Continuity Professionals as vice president in 2008 for one term (two years). He is now the current president, reelected to the post for two years in September 2012 (second term).

David has completed training in Business Continuity Planning and represents the Commission at the National Emergency Operating Centre (ODPM).

Apart from his professional life, he is quite involved in his community and is committed to his family. He has been happily married to Sharon for the last twelve years.
